BROOKLYN FAMILY TRAGEDY
BROOKLYN, NY
7 Fatalities
Seven members of a Brooklyn family, including five young girls, were killed when an afternoon fire swept through their third-floor apartment. The fire was caused by an individual cooking in the kitchen of the second floor unit. The incident turned fatal when the two means of egress from the third-floor apartment were blocked by the fast moving flames. The window next to the stove where the fire originated was open and under the fire escape, and the woman who was cooking fled leaving the apartment door open. T.J. Russo Consultants was retained on behalf of building ownership to conduct an analysis into the fire and loss of life.
